ONGOING RESEARCH PROJECTS

The program’s ability to secure research funding is closely associated with its academic excellence. All faculty members are involved in funded projects, and 90% serve as principal investigators (with more than 50% coordinating two or more funded projects). In addition to the major integrated initiatives listed above (e.g., INCT, PELD, and PPBio), several faculty members have received PRONEM grants (Centers of Excellence for Young Researchers, associated with CNPq Level 2 productivity fellowships). Most core faculty members participate in or lead multiple research projects funded by CNPq and FAPEG.

As of the 2021–2024 evaluation period, 43 active projects registered in the SUCUPIRA platform have received funding from agencies such as CNPq, FAPEG, Fundação Boticário, CAPES, MMA, FAPDF, and FCT.

Although it is difficult to precisely estimate the total funding volume of the program across various national and international projects—due to collaborative arrangements and shared budgets—a conservative estimate would be around R$ 30,000,000 over five years, covering capital investments, operational costs, and scholarships at all levels. In fact, it is safe to say that the program and its research groups do not face funding shortages, especially due to large-scale integrated projects such as INCT EECBio, PPBio Araguaia, and the two PELD projects coordinated by the program (ParnaEmas and PELD COFA).
